THE BLIND DOG MAYER GROUP live @Bluesworld in Zwolle (NL)
with nationwide local hero special guest "Gerrit Veldman Band (NL)" - Winner of: Dutch Blues Award – Best Band (2011) - Dutch Blues CD Award (2016) and many more...

Rough ’n’ Rockin’ Blues – Honest. Raw. Rousing.
Welcome to the No-Fuss Zone
Forget polished studio productions and tired blues routines! The Blind Dog Mayer Group stands for uncompromising, honest, sweat-inducing blues-rock that catapults the spirit of the classic ’70s onto the stage with modern power and raw energy.
The band, led by Saarland-based frontman and harmonica virtuoso Blind Dog Mayer, has earned a reputation as true “veterans.” With authentic craftsmanship, catchy riffs, and raw passion, the four musicians thrill both the international music press and an ever-growing live audience.

From the rehearsal room to the awards stage:
Instead of resting on their laurels with old blues standards, the newly formed band developed a deliberately edgy, gritty sound that they themselves describe as “Rough ’n Rockin’ Blues.” This new direction made an immediate splash on the scene: even before the official release of their EP, the band won the 43rd German Rock & Pop Award for “Best Blues Rock Band” in late 2025—a recognized seal of quality in the German music scene.

The Powerhouse: Band & Sound
The band’s sound can be summed up in a nutshell: Texas Blues ’n’ Roll meets gritty harmonica blues and unstoppable hard boogie. There’s no room for melancholy here—it’s all about partying, dancing, and rocking out!
Blind Dog Mayer (vocals & harmonica): With his distinctive, raw voice and masterful harmonica playing, he puts the band’s unmistakable stamp on every performance.
Dirk Lenz (guitar): Known for his punchy rock riffs and rousing, melodic solos.
Michael Jung & Marco Schmieden (rhythm section): The extremely “tight,” unstoppable foundation of every show.

International Acclaim:
EP: “Live Studio Session – From The Shadow Of The Castle”
To capture the unfiltered energy of their performances, the band recorded their six new tracks as a pure live studio session (released via Blues Note Records). The global music press responded enthusiastically:
Blues Blast Magazine (USA): “It's a mix that's not for the faint of heart and would fit perfectly into an era when ZZ Top, Robin Trower, and Molly Hatchet infused their music with powerful, azure-blue riffs delivered with a metallic edge.” (Marty Gunther)
Blues Matters Magazine (UK): The well-known British blues magazine praised the band as “brilliant,” compared them to early ZZ TOP, and highlighted the album as a real standout.
Blues Magazine (NL): Ranked the EP No. 1 on its weekly playlist! — “Powerful, high-energy blues-rock tracks. Rough vocals, fiery guitar and harmonica solos, and a solid rhythm section define the six tracks.”
Radio Downtown (CAN): Dedicated a cover story to the group, including radio airplay for the single “That’s What I Saw.”
Blues In Britain Magazine (UK): Harley Rider impresses with powerful vocals and echoes of Will Wilde in their powerful harmonica playing.
RockTimes (DE): Praised the album as a “high-voltage powerhouse” and “multifaceted blues-rock delight.” (Joe Brookes)
Bluesnews (DE): The renowned German blues magazine wrote that the band from Saarland really steps on the gas four times with their six original blues-rock compositions inspired by the 1970s. (Dirk Föhrs/Dirk Funke)
Rootstime Magazine (BE): Rootstime is considered one of the largest and most influential online platforms for blues and roots music in Belgium and the Netherlands and issued the following statement: “As a debut, this EP by the Blind Dog Mayer Band is a home run—promising and one that clearly leaves you wanting more! " (Eric Schuurmans)
FFM-Rock (DE): The rock and metal magazine reported in detail on the band’s studio sessions and their career, noting that “the raw edge is also reflected in the timbre of the band’s namesake, whose voice tells all the stories from the road”—which is what the band embodies through their music.
Jefferson Blues Magazine (SWE): “...The band sounds tight; the guitar solos are tastefully brief and don't dominate the songs. You get the feeling that the band has the potential to be a great live band... (Jimmy Thorell)”
Neckbreaker Magazine (DE): An established online magazine for heavier sounds that celebrated the quartet’s enthusiasm and energy.
Sarkophag Rocks (DE): The music magazine praised the musicians as absolute professionals and “masters of their craft.”
Guitar-Player (DE): The industry portal focused its coverage on the band’s win of the German Rock & Pop Award in the “Best Blues Rock Band” category.
