Join us for Live at the Carnegie, a Saturday evening listening series, featuring unique performances by musicians not typically or otherwise found in Greater Mankato. Up next: an incredible evening of tabla, oud, keys, and more...
Suwal Singh has contributed to the Minnesota music scene as part of SitarTabla (Eastern classical), MoMoSauce (Nepali music), Yeti Steady (avant-garde soundscapes), Jest (pop-rock) and MajMin (world music). He has collaborated with diverse local artists and has appeared at Jazz Central Studios, Icehouse, Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, Berlin Jazz Club, KFAI, Landmark Center, Dunsmore Jazz Room, etc.
Jordan Sarkis is a multi instrumentalist that is committed to spreading his music culture that he grew up with in Fuheis, Jordan. His main instrument is the Nay (Middle-Eastern flute), but he also performs music on the Oud (Middle-Eastern lute) and the clarinet. During his time in college, Jordan started The Arab Band, a team of musicians that share the same passion he has, and he led the band to grow and perform across the Twin Cities.
Robert Lehmann is a mixed-Filipino keyboard player with significant experience with Arabic darbuka. Robert’s keyboard work draws on his many years studying western classical piano, re-examining those sounds under new lights of improvised music and electronic synthesis. He gathers disparate influences across minimalism and classical, electronica and ambient, jazz and film scores, particularly drawing on Romantic and Impressionist era influences, as well deep melodic influences from years of playing in Arabic music ensembles.
Performances in our galleries are made possible by the City of Mankato, Pagliai's Pizza, and the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council. Live at the Carnegie is curated by Liz Draper and open to all. A $20 suggested donation helps your local art center continue to offer these incredible performances.
