For Immediate Release Little Slam on the Prairie II Returns December 12, 2026
at the Des Moines Art Center
The Uplifting Puppet Co. is proud to present the return of Little Slam on the Prairie II on Saturday, December 12, 2026, hosted this year at the Des Moines Art Center at 1:30 pm alongside their monthly museum-wide Social Saturday event.
This eclectic afternoon of short-form puppetry celebrating the full spectrum of puppetry arts celebrating innovation, storytelling, and creative connection. From shadow theatre and object performance to giant puppets, comedy, multimedia, and avant-garde creations, Little Slam on the Prairie II invites artists and audiences alike into an afternoon of imagination and surprise.
Call for Artists
Applications are now open for puppeteers, performers, visual artists, theatre-makers, musicians, and creative experimenters interested in developing a short puppet slam performance for the event.
New, novice, and experienced puppeteers are all encouraged to apply.
Artists do not need prior puppetry experience to participate. Mentors from the Prairie Guild of Puppetry will be available for consultations and creative support for artists interested in developing new work.
Whether you are an established puppeteer or someone with a strange and exciting idea you have always wanted to try, Little Slam on the Prairie II aims to cultivate an inclusive and supportive environment for artistic experimentation and community.
