When Little Oak was created thirteen years ago, it was an idea and not much else. A handful of rescued animals, two humans with a huge learning curve ahead, and a conviction that every farmed animal deserves safety, dignity, and a life worth living.
Today, over 335 animals call the sanctuary home, and every single one of them is here because this community made it possible. The rescues, the vet runs, the wheelchairs, the second chances. Thirteen years ago a small seed of compassion was planted, and look what we've grown together.
That deserves a celebration. So on Friday the 13th of November (yes, really, and we couldn't resist), we're gathering at The Marion at Regatta Point, right on the water in Canberra, for a night thirteen years in the making.
You'll be welcomed into our Enchanted Garden with champagne and canapes as the sun sets over the lake, before sitting down to a beautiful two course plant-based meal with drinks included, live jazz setting the mood, and cake by the wonderful Sweet Bones. Add a silent auction full of gorgeous things (think a luxury country escape, a hot air balloon flight over Canberra, and more), and a room full of people who love animals as much as you do.

A word to the wise: early bird tickets are limited by number rather than date, so once they're gone, they're gone.

Our Gala only comes around every two years, so this is your one chance until 2028 to dress up, drink champagne by the lake, and spend an evening among people who see animals the way you do. And while you're enjoying every minute of it, your ticket is hard at work behind the scenes, with every dollar raised going directly to the care of the over 335 rescued residents at the sanctuary. A beautiful night out that pays for vet runs and hay deliveries? We can't think of a better way to spend a Friday the 13th.
