Overview
Start Your Engines!
The Little Derby is coming to Winter Wonder Lane!
Children ages 3–9 yrs old can take the wheel of an electric ride-on race car and compete in a fun holiday race experience for military, veteran, and community families.
And there’s a big finish:
The winner of each division takes home the designated race car!
Participation is FREE, but space is limited.
Race Divisions
Little Racers | Ages 3–4 yrs old and 5-6 yrs old
Race using a 12V ride-on car
Junior Racers | Ages 7–9 yrs old
Race using a 24V ride-on car
Final racer eligibility will also depend on the manufacturer’s weight limits and whether the child can safely fit and operate the assigned vehicle.
Important Registration Information
Pre-registration does not guarantee a race position.
Little Derby check-in begins at 6:00 PM at Winter Wonder Lane.
Registered racers must check in before their assigned race/heat and complete the safety check.
Race positions are confirmed based on:
Registration + timely check-in + eligibility + safe vehicle fit + available race capacity
If a registered racer does not check in on time, the position may be released to another eligible child.
Helmet Required
Every racer must have a properly fitted helmet.
No helmet = no racing.
Parents/guardians are responsible for bringing an appropriate helmet for their child.
Racer Requirements
To participate, each racer must:
- Be registered by a parent or legal guardian.
- Be within the appropriate age division.
- Check in beginning at 6:00 PM and before the assigned race time.
- Meet the manufacturer’s weight and safe-fit requirements for the assigned car.
- Safely fit in the seat with the restraint secured.
- Be able to safely reach and use the steering wheel and controls.
- Wear a properly fitted helmet.
- Have a parent or legal guardian present.
- Follow all Little Derby staff and safety instructions.
VSSN may decline or discontinue participation if a child cannot safely fit or operate the assigned vehicle.
Winner Takes the Car!
Each division will have a designated Little Derby prize vehicle.
Division Winner = Takes Home the Car!
Additional race format, heats, and winner procedures will be announced before race day.
