7604 - Little Acts @ LTMOne Act Festival

LTM’s inaugural one-act festival featuring multiple short, self-contained plays, typically 10–45 minutes each, performed over a three week period. Our festival will spotlight emerging playwrights, directors, and actors, allowing them to showcase new work and creative collaboration.
NOTES:
The Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg is pleased to present our inaugural festival of one act plays in January and February 2027!
Little Acts are:
• One act plays of 10-45 minutes in duration
• Suitable for performance in a black box theater
• Written by local playwrights, and provided royalty-free to LTM
Playwrights may submit works through October 15, 2026. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of LTM members for inclusion in the festival.�Selected works will be announced on or before October 31.
What do you mean by “local”?
Generally speaking, playwrights located in Central Pennsylvania, although interest has come from as far away as Baltimore.
Do I need to provide actors or a director?
You may, but it is not required. If your one act is selected, LTM will ask for what is needed. There will be a pool of LTM directors willing to donate their time, and group auditions are planned for November 15 and 16 to identify cast members for any play that is not pre-cast.
Can I direct my own submission?
Yes, but the use of a director other than the author is preferred.
What are the limitations of the black box?
The festival needs to be able to support multiple works, and the ability to alter the space will be very limited between performances.
How many plays will be selected?
Up to nine (9) plays may be selected. The performance schedule will be modified based on the number of works selected.
Can I submit more than one piece?
Yes. More than one might be selected, too!
Can I submit a musical?
Yes, but selection may depend on the logistics and practicalities of the space. For example, it may not be possible to accommodate musicians, necessitating the use of pre-recorded tracks.
Can my submission run more than 45 minutes?
We want to be as close to a 45-minute maximum length as possible.
Can I submit a full length work of two or more acts?
It will not be considered for this festival, but LTM may consider it for performance at another time.
Are there any limitations regarding subject matter or language?
No, but remember that the review panel may react like any other audience.
As a playwright, what are my responsibilities after submitting my work?
You have no specific obligation to the production. If selected, your piece will be handed off to the director for interpretation, casting, and facilitating the performance. LTM may request a biography for inclusion in the festival programs.
What information should be included?
The playwright’s name & contact information, a statement that LTM may produce the work royalty-free, and the script.
