The Listening Project #10: A Special Collaboration with West Cork Feel Good Festival.Join us for a deeply immersive evening of song, sound, and connection as The Listening Project partners with the West Cork Feel Good Festival to present a double bill featuring Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin & Ultan O'Brien, alongside Macbochra.
Set in the intimate surrounds of Skibbereen Town Hall, this benchmark 10th edition celebrates music’s power to ground, heal, and bring community together.
The Lineup
Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin & Ultan O'Brien:
Rooted in Conamara sean-nós singing, Dublin-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin (RTÉ Folk Award winner for Best Folk Singer) joins forces with acclaimed fiddle and viola player Ultan O'Brien. Blending raw vocal emotion with expansive, breathing instrumentation (concertina, flute, fiddle, and viola), their collaboration moves seamlessly through traditional and contemporary soundscapes—exploring themes of resilience, community, loss, and hope.
MacBóchra:
Bringing rich textures and evocative arrangements, MacBóchra opens the night with a set crafted specifically for active listening and shared experience. The band adapt stories from medieval Irish literature and folkore into new, bilingual music and poetry. They take their name from the shape shifting salmon, eagle, hawk and oldest seanchaí Fintan macBóchra. Their music features arrangements for bodhrán, whistles, tiompán, voices, guitar, hammer dulcimer and electronics, exploring territory that is informed by Irish traditional music yet also their own.
