Edinburgh Linux Café is a group of experienced volunteers that want to help people save money – and reduce electronic waste along the way. With the end of support for Windows 10, we want to help people with devices that aren't supported by Windows 11 to move to Linux. Mac OS users can also benefit, with the regular withdrawal of support by Apple for older hardware and Intel processors. This will avoid the need to buy another device, when your current device is perfectly fine!We can help you:
- Try out Linux Mint for the first time without installing anything on your computer
- Install Linux Mint if you decide you want it
- Install your favourite software and show you how to keep it updated
This is a drop-in event, but we are operating informal time slots to help avoid congestion. Please book a slot below and come along with your laptop or a USB stick. It is very important you back up your files to an external storage beforehand!
Things to bear in mind before the event:
- Do backup your personal files
- Do bring along your laptop charger
- If you aren't able to bring your device (e.g. a desktop computer), please bring an empty USB stick with you so we can put Linux Mint on it for you
- Check that you have backed up all the files from your device to external storage
