About this Event
"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows…"
- A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act II Scene I
Through guided scent exploration you will encounter the flowers and herbs that appear in Shakespeare’s writing: roses of love, rosemary for remembrance, violets of modesty, lavender, thyme, and other fragrant plants rich with symbolism.
This workshop blends literature, botanical history and perfume, offering a sensory encounter with the plants that shaped Shakespeare’s poetic world.
Explore the language of flowers in Shakespeare’s plays, smell botanical essences and herbs, and create a bespoke fragrance to take home.
All materials will be provided. RHS membership not required. Spaces on this workshop are limited, and tickets must be purchased in advance of the event.
