About this Event
The first stage of any good retrofit project is maintaining the building, so it's wind and water tight. So this workshop will be working on the walls of the Byre to help protect them against the elements.
This free, hands-on workshop is open to all local residents of Tillydrone, Seaton and Woodside.
Taught by a conservation specialist, participants will learn how Lime Mortar is used in the repair and maintenance of traditional buildings, and help repair the Old Byre to create a warm, dry space for the wonderful Earth & Worms Community Garden!
Whether you are a regular volunteer at Earth & Worms or would like to find out more about this project and traditional building maintenance skills and techniques, this event is for you.
Tools, materials, protective equipment will be provided, but please bring sturdy footwear.
Refreshments will be available, but please bring your own lunch.
The workshop is free but a £20 donation to Earth & Worms is recommended where affordable.
This course is part of the Byre Community Building Retrofit project, funded by the Scottish Government's Just Transition Fund for Community and Social Enterprise, and restricted to local residents.
