Join us at The People’s Room of Mobile for an intimate evening of original music featuring four distinctive songwriters: Lily Dabbs, Amanda Donald, Jacob Brock, and Juliet McConkey.
Rooted in folk, country, bluegrass, and Americana, each artist brings a different perspective to the room — from deeply observant storytelling and traditional roots influences to alternative country and songs shaped by the landscapes of the Gulf Coast, Blue Ridge Mountains, Texas, and the South.
Lily Dabbs draws inspiration from folk greats like Bob Dylan, Iris DeMent, and John Prine, pairing honest songwriting with melodic fingerpicking and her warm, oaky voice. Originally part of the folk community in Athens, Georgia and now based in Austin, Lily writes songs that bridge traditional folk storytelling with the experiences and challenges of the present day. Her catalog includes her self-titled EP, After the Blues, her full-length record Back Around, and 2024’s Rio Grande Recordings.
Alabama Gulf Coast native Amanda Donald has spent much of her life with a guitar in her hands. Her musicianship, songwriting, and effortless vocals come together in a sound that blends bluegrass, traditional country, and contemporary folk. Amanda’s music celebrates the roots traditions she loves while giving them a voice all her own.
South Alabama’s Jacob Brock brings an alternative-country edge to the evening, drawing inspiration from both the white-sand beaches of the Gulf Coast and the musical landscape of Muscle Shoals. His music stretches country beyond its traditional fences into something a little more cosmic and unexpected. His debut project, HIGH NOON: ACT I, introduced that sound, with GIFT HORSE: FIRST LEG continuing the journey and his current single, “Lasso,” streaming now.
Originally from Nelson County, Virginia, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Juliet McConkey is now based in Austin, Texas. Her folk-driven, country-leaning songwriting is deeply informed by nature, relationships, and her rural upbringing. Following her acclaimed 2020 debut Disappearing Girl, Juliet signed with Soggy Anvil Records in 2025 and released her sophomore album, Southern Front, recorded in Nashville and centered around themes of uncertainty, change, and the unknown.
