About this Event
Lightroom & Digital Archiving: A Two-Part Workshop Series with Stephen Mallon
Part 1: Lightroom 101 — Building a Working Foundation
In part one, Stephen Mallon walks you through the core of Adobe Lightroom — from the moment a file hits your card to the moment it leaves as a finished export. This session is built to get you working efficiently and confidently inside Lightroom's Library and Develop modules, with a workflow that scales as your archive grows.
Topics covered:
Library & Organization
- Catalogs: structure, best practices, and when to use more than one
- Ingest: building a consistent, repeatable import workflow
- File structure: organizing on disk so Lightroom (and you) can find anything fast
- Renaming: file-naming conventions that hold up over time
Develop & Output
- Masking: an introduction to Lightroom's selective editing tools
- Presets: building, applying, and managing your own
- Export controls: file formats, sizing, resolution, and output settings for print vs. web
Part Two: Archiving Practice — Building a Digital Asset Management (DAM) System
