Join professional photographer Cesare Bonazza of Chezaray Photography for a hands-on lighting class designed to help photographers better understand exposure and confidently control both natural and artificial light.
This class goes beyond simply learning how to use a light meter. You will learn how to read light, measure it accurately, and use that information to create consistent, professional results.
What You Will Learn
- Available Light — How to evaluate and measure natural and ambient light and use your camera and handheld meter together.
- Studio Strobe — Learn how to meter flash, set your desired aperture, and adjust strobe power for precise exposure.
- Incident vs. Reflected Metering — Understand how and when to use each method.
- Lighting Ratios — Learn how to measure and balance key, fill, background, and rim lights.
- Ambient Light + Strobe — Learn how to combine natural light and flash for controlled, creative results.
- HSS (High-Speed Sync) — Understand when and why to use HSS, especially when shooting at wide apertures in bright conditions.
- Neutral Density (ND) Filters — Learn how ND filters help control exposure and aperture when working with bright ambient light and flash.
- Exposure Triangle — Understand the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO and how each affects your final image.
- Color Temperature & White Balance — Learn how to manage different light sources and create consistent color.
- Real-World Portrait Lighting — Build and meter a complete portrait lighting setup and see how your meter readings translate into the final photograph.
Hands-On Learning
This is a practical, hands-on class. You will have the opportunity to meter light, adjust strobes, balance multiple light sources, and photograph a real portrait setup.
The goal is simple:
Don't guess at your exposure. Learn to read the light, measure the light, and control the light.
