LIGHT SYMPOSIUM 2026 | BUDAPEST | NOVEMBER 4–7Celebrating 30 Years of the International Kepes Society and 120 Years of György Kepes!
We are delighted to announce the upcoming International Light Symposium 2026, celebrating three decades of the International Kepes Society and the extraordinary legacy of György Kepes, one of the great visionaries connecting art, science, and technology.
From November 4–7, Budapest will welcome an exceptional international gathering of artists, scientists, researchers, curators, and thinkers to explore light as an artistic medium, a scientific phenomenon, and a catalyst for new ways of seeing and understanding our world.
The program brings together remarkable voices from across the globe, including Tamiko Thiel, Oliver A. I. Botar, David Rokeby, Shawn Brixey, Pascal Dombis, Robert Seidel, Joanie Lemercier, Joel Ong, Graham Smith, Pietro Pirelli, Nina Czegledy, Roger Malina, and many others.
Alongside two days of lectures, artist talks, and roundtable discussions at MOME – Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, the symposium features exhibitions, screenings, and special events across Budapest, including AFTERGLOW, an international group exhibition at the Kahan Art Space Buda.
Thirty years of interdisciplinary dialogue, experimentation, and discovery — and many more to come!
