This is a poetry reading involving three wonderful poets.
1) Mary Fox, a teacher, writer and spoken-word poet—slam poetry, her favorite. Her books include, “Waiting for Rain” and “Reading Lessons,” and she co-edited “Promptly Speaking.”
2) Cheryl Caesar, PhD, is an ex-ex-patriate, having spent 25 years in Europe before returning to her native Michigan. She teaches at Michigan State University. Her poetry books include “Flatman” and “Saving Stars.” Her artwork and poems appear in both volumes of “Words Across the Water.”
3) Marianne Peel has authored three books of poetry: “No Distance Between Us,” “Singing is Praying twice,” and “Untamed Arabesque.” Her writing reflects her journeys as a mother of four daughters and her professional work in China, Nepal, Turkey, Bali, and beyond.
The reading will center on the idea of journey. These poets will read poems through four rotations, each having a different focus. The topics are:
1) Personal Journeys—events from your life and experiences that affected you or taught you.
2) Fellow Travelers—people on your journeys who affected your life, thoughts, and choices.
3) Social and Environmental Journeys—life events that affected all of us including politics, nature, interactions with organizations, work, etc. The environment of journeys.
4) Internal Journeys—The landscape of thought and changes within.
