Black Girl Rising, Inc. Life Readiness Program Series
Are you ready for the big game—the game called LIFE?
What are your plans after high school? Is college for you? Have you thought about a trade, the arts, sports, or the military? What comes next?
The Black Girl Rising, Inc. Life Readiness Program Series is the “Big Sister Talk” you’ve been looking for. Led by Aliya Horton and Kelli Shivers, these four sessions will give girls an honest look at life after high school.
Through open discussion and research, we’ll talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly of figuring things out, and what it takes to start on the right foot.
This program is for girls in 9th-12th grade who are ready to take their futures seriously. Girls and their parents must commit to the full series.
What to know before registering
- Attendance: Each session runs from 9:00 AM–2:30 PM. Girls are expected to attend all four sessions. Because space is limited, a $35 fee will apply if a girl misses a session without an excuse approved in advance.
- Parent participation: A parent must sign the consent form and attend the required parent meeting. Parents must also attend the final session, Fan Club.
- Dress code: Please come relaxed and comfortable, but still pulled together. No bonnets, pajamas, or silk scarves.
- ACT and SAT prep books: Let us know if you’re interested in receiving them.
