Class Experience: How do we draw people? Is the human form too hard to draw? The figure may seem like a complex subject, and if taken at face value it is. It can feel like there is too much information to navigate. But by analyzing, interpreting and simplifying our subject, the figure becomes much more manageable. In this class we will discuss how to capture motion with gesture drawing and how to navigate the landmarks of the figure to construct the body out of basic forms.
Not only will this approach allow you to draw from the model, it will also teach you to draw the figure from imagination confidently. Gaining confidence in drawing the human form will only help you, and help you in any art media in which you choose to work. Drawing is a skill we can develop and hone, and for centuries Life Drawing has been the most significant exercise artists practice to improve and grow their skills.
The ZACC is proud to offer instructed Life Drawing, with a rotation of experienced instructors and models to give you a broad and complex knowledge base. We will be running Life Drawing in five and six week blocks, with a new instructor each block and a new model every two sessions.
Come join the fun!
