About this Event
As this is a GenWild event, the event is only open to 18–30-year-olds who live, work or study in Warwickshire, Coventry or Solihull.
Lichen Talk
We start the afternoon with an indoor talk at 2PM, about what lichen teaches us about pollution and air quality. This will be led by Hope, a student who has just completed a project on mapping the lichen populations across the Warwick Campus and relating it to air quality.
Lichen Walk
At 3:30PM we will head into the woods on campus to see what lichen we can find, led by Dr Megan Gardner-Purchase, a young environmental scientist with a passion for uncovering the hidden side of nature. At the University of Warwick, she studies the microscopic organisms, fungi, mosses and lichens that shape the ecosystems around us. She loves helping people discover the strange and surprising things hiding in plain sight, from glowing fungi to the invisible life beneath our feet.
Book tickets for both the talk and walk, or just join one - the choice is up to you!
