Chyajallo / Namaste,Hope everyone is doing well. It is once again that special time of year when we gather to celebrate one of the most important festivals of the Gurung Community, "Lhochhar." This lively festival carries profound cultural meaning, signifying the shift into a new year brimming with hope and fresh starts.
The word "Lho" means "New," while "Chaar" stands for "Year." As we welcome the new year of the Sheep (Lhu-Lho), we also take a moment to say goodbye to the Horse (Ta-Lho), representing the conclusion of one cycle and the commencement of another. This change is more than just a date on the calendar; it symbolizes a period for reflection, gratitude, and setting intentions for the upcoming year.
Lhochhar is a time for togetherness and celebration, where families and friends unite to revel in the joy of the event. The atmosphere is filled with laughter, music, and the delightful aroma of traditional Nepali cuisine. It’s a moment to honor our ancestors, show appreciation for the blessings we’ve received, and anticipate the opportunities that await us.
As we gather to celebrate, let’s fill our hearts with joy and create treasured memories that will endure for years to come. May this Lhochhar bring you and your loved ones happiness, prosperity, and good health. Let’s embrace the spirit of unity and make this "Lhochhar Saanjh" a truly memorable occasion.
Let’s celebrate with joy, laughter, and create happy memories.
Let’s celebrate life.
Wishing you a joyful and prosperous Lhochhar! And a very Happy New Year “2027”
