About this Event

Horse Connection and Sacred Sound Bath

A gentle, restorative and insightful afternoon dedicated to your well-being. This workshop bridges the grounded, intuitive presence of horses with the deeply relaxing vibrations of a sound bath. Designed specifically for the LGBTQ+ community, this is a therapeutic space to exhale, slow down, and connect—both with yourself and our gentle equine friends. No previous horse experience or musical background is required. This is a non-riding event held entirely on the ground.

What to Expect

  • A Soft Landing: We will open with a brief, welcoming community circle to ground into the space together.
  • Meeting the Herd: Meet the horses in a safe, structured, and low-pressure environment. You will learn to observe their body language and practice mindful, present-moment connection with them.
  • The Sacred Sound Bath: Transition into a state of deep rest. While surrounded by the peaceful ranch environment, you will lay down (or sit comfortably) as the healing frequencies of crystal singing bowls and therapeutic instruments wash over you.
  • Gentle Integration: We will close with a light, optional sharing circle and grounding refreshments to help you transition smoothly into the rest of your evening.

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS:

Christi Piker, MA, LPC (she/her) is a mindfulness-based psychotherapist practicing in Fort Collins who is deeply passionate about providing affirming care within her queer community. As the lead facilitator for Herd & Healing, Christi will be holding the emotional safety and therapeutic container for the group, allowing participants to explore a gentle, mindful relationship with the horses at their own comfortable pace.

This workshop is proudly hosted at Laughing Buck Farm, a beautiful educational and riding farm, founded upon being a safe, nurturing, and fully inclusive environment. The farm actively celebrates all the diverse identities, cultures, and backgrounds that make up our community.

Meg Schatte (she/her) developed an early appreciation for human and animal behavior, growing up with a psychiatrist mother and riding horses since age three. She combined these passions to earn her Master’s degree under renowned animal behaviorist Dr. Temple Grandin, expanding her expertise into therapeutic riding and its transformative benefits for at-risk youth and individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Meg is dedicated to creating safe, inclusive learning environments. Today, she shares her knowledge of equine behavior both on the ground and in the saddle with students of all backgrounds and skill levels.

Marti Bruening (she/her) is a sound bath facilitator, Reiki Master Teacher, breathwork and meditation guide, and the founder of Akamai Healing in Fort Collins. After spending nearly twenty years in high‑pressure corporate roles, Marti turned toward restorative practices to support her own healing, nervous system regulation, and personal transformation. These modalities helped her reconnect with herself in profound ways, and she now feels honored to hold space for others seeking the same sense of steadiness, clarity, and inner grounding. Marti’s work is rooted in compassion, presence, and the belief that healing happens when we give ourselves permission to pause. You can learn more about her and her offerings on her website: akamaihealing.com.
