October 4-10 is national Banned Books Week. Every year, the American Library Association (ALA) hosts Banned Books Week to bring attention to the nationwide rise in book challenges and censorship. In 2025, the ALA recored 4,235 books challenged at public & school libraries. 66% of books challenged in 2025 were banned, the highest rate of successful challenges in a single year.
