About this Event
THE WORKSHOP
"Whoever and wherever we are, we live in dialogue with place and its residents. Some of them are human. Not all of them are alive. And some seem to echo with older tales.
"Lee Child reached back into Nordic lore with his Reacher books, and his first novel secured him a bookshop residency. Sure, he worked in TV, knew people. Lots of other people can say the same and we hear nothing from them.
"For a few years now I've been having out-of-book experiences that connect me with places and people in new ways. I didn't expect the mythic aspect, but there comes a point when it's impossible to invisibilise. A Black Friday quest to London to run a storytelling workshop at Canary Wharf became a living story when I lost my phone, and train ticket, and needed to get there regardless before the organiser flew in from Turkey. It went a treat, and the Thames gently requested an offering as we made our way from the hotel venue.
"At the very least, in this workshop you'll be introduced to some ideas that want to get to know you. And maybe, you'll find - as I have - that some of them want to come home with you, show you a bigger world.
"Here's where we start to do that."
