About this Event
Join us for an evening of learning and conversation about dyslexia, advocacy, and the supports students need to succeed.
Hosted by SD57 DPAC and presented by Dyslexia BC, this session is designed for parents, caregivers, teachers, educators, and anyone interested in learning more about dyslexia and how to support students.
During this session, we will discuss:
- What dyslexia is... and what it is not
- The importance of early screening and assessment
- Effective instruction, accommodations, assistive technology, and resources
- Current dyslexia advocacy efforts in British Columbia
- How families and educators can work together to support students
Participants will also experience a short "Dyslexia for a Day" simulation, developed by the Dyslexia Training Institute, which helps illustrate some of the challenges students with dyslexia may experience when reading and writing in the classroom.
There will be plenty of time for questions, discussion, and sharing experiences.
Whether you're supporting a child at home, teaching in the classroom, or simply want to learn more about dyslexia, this session will provide practical information, valuable resources, and opportunities to connect with others in the community.
