Let's dive into what data centers could mean in McHenry County!
About this Event
McHenry County runs entirely on groundwater. Every well, every farm, every household tap in our county depends on aquifers that take years to recharge. Before discussions begin and decisions are being made about large-scale industrial development in our area, our community deserves to understand exactly what is at stake.
Together We Stand McHenry County invites you to an expert speaker forum: an evening of facts, local science, and informed conversation.
DETAILS
Date: Thursday, October 1, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Venue: McHenry County College, 8900 US Highway 14 (Bldg B) Crystal Lake, IL
Admission: FREE and open to all McHenry County residents
WHAT YOU WILL HEAR:
Scott Kuykendall, McHenry County's own Water Resource Specialist, opens with a full featured presentation on our county's groundwater systems: where they stand today, how they recharge, how different townships are affected differently, and what a large industrial water user would actually mean for our community. Following his presentation, a panel of supporting experts each address a specific gap.
*THIS IS NOT AN OPEN MIC
This is solely a community education event, there will not be a microphone for public comment or debate. There will be expert speakers sharing what they know, and a moderated format that gives our community the clearest possible picture of what data center development could mean for McHenry County.
Questions will be collected on cards during the break, narrowed down to a set number of the most asked questions, and addressed by the full panel in a moderated Q&A.
