Welcome to Black Field Trips.
Fall in the Northeast only hits like this for a few weeks and we are not letting it pass us by. On October 17th we're loading up the van and heading to Ramapo Mountain State Forest for a full day of peak foliage, fresh air and good people.
This hike has a little bit of everything. We start with a climb through the woods up to Ramapo Lake, a 120 acre mountain lake surrounded by color. Then we head up to the ruins of Van Slyke Castle, an old stone mansion sitting on top of the ridge. On a clear day you can see the New York City skyline from up there. Trust us, the pictures are going to be crazy.
This is not a solo hike. This is a curated group experience. We handle the ride, the route and the snacks. All you have to do is show up ready to move.
What's included in your ticket:
Round trip transportation in our group van from Jamaica Station
Trail snacks and hydration
A guided group hike with the BFT crew
A full day with the community in one of the prettiest fall spots outside of the city
What's not included:
Breakfast at our morning stop and our post hike meal on the way back. Both stops are part of the day but food and drinks are on you.
Seats on the van are limited. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Info: Check in and load up. The exact pickup spot will be emailed to all registered guests a few days before the trip.

Info: Quick stop in Jersey so everyone can grab breakfast and use the restroom before the trail. Food is not included.

Info: Stretch, group photo and trail briefing.

Hit the Trail
Info: Ramapo Lake and Van Slyke Castle loop. About 4 to 5 miles, moderate and rocky in spots, around 3 hours with breaks and photo stops.

Finish Hike
Info: Back to the van to decompress.

Post Hike Meal
Info: We'll stop to eat together on the way back. The location will be shared closer to the trip. Food is not included
