South Shore Opera Company of Chicago proudly announces Let Freedom Sing!, a dynamic live concert event exploring themes of civil rights, liberty, and democracy through the transformative power of opera.
This compelling program brings together the thrilling vocal artistry of Qiana McNary, Karlos Piñero-Mercado, Warnell Berry, Elizabeth Norman Sojourner and The Legacy Ensemble, with pianist Miguel De La Cerna, performing an array of musical works giving voice to humanity’s enduring pursuit of justice and equality, under the baton of Maestro Leslie B. Dunner, Artistic Director.
From moments of quiet resilience to soaring declarations of triumph, Let Freedom Sing! highlights music that has long reflected— and influenced— movements for social change across history.
“At its core, opera is about the human condition—our struggles, our courage, and our hope,” said Artistic Director, Maestro Leslie B. Dunner. “With Let Freedom Sing!, we’re connecting that tradition to the ongoing conversation about freedom and democracy in our world today.”
This concert invites listeners not only to reflect on the past, but also to engage with the present moment through music that continues to inspire action and unity. Audiences can expect a musically rich experience, featuring powerful songs, arias and ensembles.
