Lena Rich and her band celebrate the release of her new album, Emerald City, at Live From The Divide on Friday, October 23.
Living is a choice, or at least, that’s how Lena Rich sees it. The Livingston-based songwriter pairs road-weary heartbreak and crumbling empires with a belief against all odds, writing songs that sit comfortably in the space between loss and hope.
Her forthcoming album, Emerald City, is a warm, carefully crafted collection rooted in classic alt-country while reaching well beyond it. Overdriven guitars recall Drive-By Truckers, indie-twang nods toward Waxahatchee, and Rich’s honeyed vocals and sharp observations remain distinctly her own. Produced by Mike LoPinto (Emily Nenni, Chris Stapleton, The Montvales), the record favors restraint, rich tones and plenty of room for its stories to breathe.
From the searching anxiety of lead single “Black Box” to the dry wit of “We’re All Gonna Die,” Emerald City finds beauty inside difficult experiences and connection in uncertain times. It’s music made for reflection without surrendering hope.
Raised on the rocky coast of Maine, Rich found music early through fiddle camps and collaboration before spending a decade on scrappy, self-booked tours. Along the way, she has shared stages with The Local Honeys, Anaïs Mitchell, Bob Sumner, The Cody Sisters and more. Now based in Livingston, her warm, intimate performances bring the same candor and careful storytelling found throughout her songs.
Join Lena Rich and her band at Live From The Divide for a hometown celebration of Emerald City and an evening centered on the songs, stories and community surrounding its release.
