Leisa's School of Dancing and Duprada Dance Company present their annual theatre performance with a triple bill. The youngest dancers showcase their hard work in a Petit DéFilé, accompanied by the Company dancers. Three new contemporary works choreographed by Leisa Jackson will be presented, before the magical fairytale Cinderella brings the evening to a close.
Set to the score of Sergei Prokofiev, Cinderella tells the story of a kind girl forced into servitude by her nagging stepmother and selfish stepsisters. Cinderella believes in the power of true love and dreams of attending the Palace Ball, but is made to stay home and clean. When her Fairy Godmother magically arrives with a delicate pair of glass slippers, Cinderella is granted a wish. Her rags are transformed into a ball gown, mice into horses and a pumpkin into a carriage to take her to the Ball. However, the spell only lasts until midnight.
The Grand Ball is well underway when Cinderella arrives. The Prince is immediately captivated by her as she enters the ballroom. Dancing together they fall in love, but before they know it, the clock strikes midnight. Panicking, Cinderella runs out of the ballroom, dropping one of her slippers on the stairs.
Waking in the kitchen and holding her slipper, Cinderella believes it was all a dream and hides it from her stepsisters. The Prince announces that he will try the slipper on every maiden in the land until he finds his true love. At Cinderella's house, the stepsisters try in vain to squeeze their feet into the shoe. With a little encouragement from her mice friends, Cinderella presents the other shoe, proving that she is the one he has been searching for. He declares his love, and they are blessed by the Fairy Godmother, living happily ever after.
Join Leisa's School of Dancing for a fun, family night and escape into the magical world of theatre. Suitable for all ages, the performance celebrates the enthusiasm and talent of local dancers.
