Did you know Lehi once had a bustling railroad community that helped connect northern Utah County to the booming Tintic Mining District?
In the early 1880s, the Utah Southern Railroad and Salt Lake & Western Railway converged northwest of town, giving birth to Lehi Junction. What began as a railroad crossroads soon became a thriving community with engine houses, a roundhouse, water tower, stores, brickyards and homes for railroad workers. Families settled nearby, and the community grew to include a school and church meetinghouse.
Today, little remains of this once-busy railroad center, but its history tells an important story of Lehi’s growth and prosperity.
Join the Lehi Historical Society as we unveil a new historical marker honoring Lehi Junction and the people who helped make it a vital part of our community’s history.
Bring your family, invite your neighbors and help us celebrate another chapter of Lehi’s remarkable past!
