Do you need to write a Will or get help with a family property succession?
The Shreveport Financial Empowerment Center announces the launch of Legacy Planning Workshops to strengthen generational wealth.
The City of Shreveport's Financial Empowerment Center is pleased to add new Legacy Planning Services designed to help families protect, preserve, and properly transfer generational assets, including real property and inherited land.
To launch, Legacy Planning Workshops will be held monthly and embedded in neighborhoods across the City of Shreveport in 2026.
This event is on Thursday, November 12, at 11:00 a.m. at SPAR's Bill Cockrell Community Center, 4109 Pines Road, Shreveport, LA 71119.
All are welcome.
Participants will learn practical tools for securing their assets and legal best practices. Additionally, each participant will be connected with individualized support to create a will or navigate succession matters *at no cost.*
This initiative is delivered through a collaborative partnership with the Highland Center, POWERR Management Group, the Shreveport Bar Foundation, and the Shreveport Financial Empowerment Center. Together, these partners are working to address long-standing challenges that contribute to the loss of family property due to limited access to estate planning resources.

*Remaining Event Dates*
- A.B. Palmer Center, Tuesday, September 8, 11:00 AM
- Airport Park Community Center, Thursday, October 15, 12:00 PM
- Bill Cockrell Community Center, Thursday, November 12, 11:00 AM

*Why It Matters*
Legacy Planning Services are grounded in the belief that secure family ownership strengthens entire communities. By equipping residents with education, tools, and direct support, the initiative seeks to ensure that generational wealth is protected and passed forward intentionally.
Across many communities, families continue to face unintended property loss due to informal ownership structures and limited access to legal planning support. This program seeks to bridge that gap by connecting residents with trusted resources and professional guidance.
