As part of Norwich’s America 250 celebration, join us for an evening exploring the legacy that shaped Greeneville and the city beyond.Held at Hotel Callista, once the historic home of industrialist John Fox Slater, this setting offers a meaningful connection to the very history we will explore.
The Slater family played a major role in Norwich’s industrial rise, employing and influencing thousands of individuals and families throughout the 19th century. As the city evolved, their impact shaped not only industry, but community life, opportunity, and social change.
This lecture explores how the Industrial Revolution transformed Norwich and how these shifts connected to broader movements, including the early foundations of the Civil Rights era.
Presented by Dayne Rugh, Director of the Slater Memorial Museum.
