🧠 Lecture: "The Biggest Questions Haunting Physicists Today"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Grant Kendrick Parker
Physics has advanced more in the last century than in all of prior human history. We now understand how stars and galaxies form and how the tiniest particles interact with astonishing precision. Yet the more we learn, the stranger and more unsettling the open questions become.
In this accessible, thought-provoking talk, particle physicist Dr. Grant Kendrick Parker will walk us through the mysteries that keep today’s physicists up at night. Are space and time continuous, or is reality “pixelated” at the smallest scales? Why is there so little antimatter in the universe? How might the cosmos ultimately end?
Dr. Parker is a researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory whose work, published in journals such as Nature Physics and Physical Review Letters, sets world-leading limits on new physics phenomena, including possible new forces of nature and models of quantum gravity. His current research explores the missing antimatter problem and cutting-edge machine learning tools for particle detectors.
