🧠 Lecture: "Zombies, Bombs, Diseases: Humans in the Post-Apocalypse"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Keegan Lannon
Join us for a thought-provoking evening as Dr. Keegan Lannon guides us through three different post-apocalyptic scenarios and the imaginative ways humans survive them. From zombie outbreaks to nuclear fallout to devastating pandemics, we’ll examine how each fictional narrative reflects our real-world fears, hopes, and resilience.
Through stories drawn from literature, film, and comics, Dr. Lannon will unpack what these end-of-the-world tales reveal about human nature, community, and the choices we make when everything is on the line. How do we rebuild? Who do we trust? What does it mean to stay human when the world has ended?
Dr. Keegan Lannon is a senior lecturer in the English Department at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he teaches courses in comics, rhetoric, and first-year writing. His expertise in popular culture and narrative forms makes him the perfect guide to explore our enduring fascination with the apocalypse.
