Join us for a fascinating evening as Dr. Laura Bohn Case uncovers how these beloved tales helped define German identity in the 19th century, and how they were later twisted into powerful tools of Nazi propaganda. You’ll explore the surprising ways Grimm fairy tales reflect societal fears, political ambitions, and cultural ideals—and why we remain obsessed with them today in films, TV, and popular culture.
After earning her PhD in German Literature from Yale University, Dr. Bohn Case taught at Wheaton College for 15 years. Her work explores how German culture helps us better understand American culture, with topics ranging from “Black in Berlin” to the enduring power of the Grimm tales. She is currently at work on a novel.
