🧠 Lecture: "Organic Chemistry on the Rocks"
🎙️ Speaker: Professor Neil Garg
Ask someone about organic chemistry and you’ll likely hear the same things: it’s difficult, mysterious, and best avoided. Yet few people can actually explain what organic chemistry is—or realize how much it shapes modern life.
Join UCLA’s Neil Garg for a lively exploration of the molecules that make up our world. You’ll discover what organic chemistry really is, why it matters, and how chemists study, build, and sometimes even break the rules of chemistry. From alcohol and breathalyzers to why some people flush red when drinking, this talk will uncover the chemistry behind everyday experiences and show why organic chemistry is much cooler than most people think.
Neil Garg is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at UCLA and an award-winning educator and researcher. Known for making organic chemistry accessible, engaging, and unexpectedly fun, he challenges assumptions and inspires people to see chemistry—and the world around them—in a whole new way.
