About this Event
A blockbuster exhibit at The Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco(running now through Jan. 31, 2027) has brought stunning works of ancient Egyptian art to the Bay Area. On display in the show are 130 objects that rarely leave Egypt, including many masterpieces of jewelry, statuary, furniture and other funerary goods from the graves of royal family members and the members of the court who supported their rule.
In this edition of 'Lectures and Libations,' UCSC Egyptologist Dr. Elaine Sullivan will describe some of the most interesting pieces in the show and illuminate the mythological and social world behind the objects. The talk is for anyone planning to see the show (or who has already had the opportunity), as well as anyone who loves Egyptian art.
