About this Event
In 1093, Malcolm III, King of the Scots, died, after an ambush at Alnwick. What was worse, so did his son, and preferred heir, Edward. The news travelled back to Scotland and threw the kingdom into four years of turmoil, as the old Scottish succession law of tanistry, headed by Malcolm's younger brother Donald fought against the newer practice of primogeniture. The result was four years of bitter Civil War, Nephews against Uncle, Half-brother against half-brother, would the new system triumph over the old? Join us at Gladstones Land for an evening of medieval excitement as we explore the bloody period of Scotland between 1093-1097, its origins and its aftermath. Led by historian in training and volunteer guide at Gladstones Land, Harry Child, the evening promises to be an unforgettable one!
Tea and coffee refreshments included in ticket price.
