Grow Food Indoors with HydroponicsWhen the garden beds go quiet for winter, your kitchen counter doesn’t have to!
With seeds, a glass mason jar, some water, and the right nutrients, you can grow fresh microgreens, baby greens, and herbs indoors all season long. No soil, compost, or pumps required.
Join Garrin of Pixels to Petals at Oakhurst Garden on November 12 for a Learn Wylde workshop on growing food indoors using hydroponics. You’ll learn the Kratky method, a beginner-friendly, “set it and forget it” approach that allows plants to grow in a still reservoir of nutrient-rich water.
Garrin will walk you through setting up your own simple hydroponic growing system, from choosing a grow medium to mixing nutrients and balancing pH. You’ll discover which plants thrive indoors and which are better left to the garden.
We’ll also explore common challenges, such as algae growth, leggy seedlings, and struggling roots, and how to prevent or correct them so you can keep harvesting until it’s time to plant outside again in spring.
