DJ is a lifelong artist with a passion for bringing imagination to life through miniature painting. He sold his first canvas at just thirteen years old and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in Concept Art and animation. For the past seventeen years, he has dedicated himself to painting models, including seven years as a professional commission artist.As an instructor, DJ blends extensive knowledge of color theory, light placement, contrast, and dramatic lighting to help students elevate their work. His goal is to guide painters of all levels—whether they’re picking up a brush for the first time or refining advanced techniques—and help them discover the artist within.
He shares his personal philosophy in his own words:
“It’s my job to either get you hooked on or level up painting your models. With extensive knowledge of color theory and light placement I intend to take your models to the next level with color contrast and dramatic lighting. It’s my job to find the artist in you. Embolden you to create beautiful works of art that you can be proud of. Inspire you to see the world in a different light. And encourage you to share your art with the world. Bring your imagination. Class is in session.”
