About this Event
Master Foor Preserver, will provide a hands-on class that includes details of preparing and canning applesauce using the boiling water-bath processing method. Participants will learn how to use fresh apples to make delicious applesauce and learn lifelong food preservation skills. Printed recipes and instructions will be provided to each class participant.
The class is scheduled for Saturday, 0ctober 3, from 9:30-12:30pm in the WalterTaylor 4-H Building of the Pennington County Fair Grounds, located at 601 E. Centre Street, Rapid City, SD 57701Space is limited and available only to registered participants who must be at least 18 years of age.
The cost is $10 per person (which includes a small registration fees charged by Eventbrite). Participants who have children in their household who qualify for free or reduced lunch or residents of their household who receive SNAP/EBT benefits can request a refund for the class fees following their completion of the class.
Participants will be able to return to the Fair Gournds between October 5 and 9 to pick up a complimentary pint jar of apple sauce made during the class.
Funding for this food preservation class is made possible by the Rapid City Rotary Club and a grant from Rotary District 5610. The class is offered in partnership with the City of Rapid City Sustainability Committee, Someone’s in the Kitchen, and volunteers who have received extensive training through the South Dakota State University Extension Master Food Preservers program.
