About this Event
Have you always wanted to learn to knit? Now is the time!
Join us on three consecutive evenings:
-Wednesday, November 11
-Wednesday, November 18
-Wednesday, November 25
You're welcome to come for 5:00 pm, and we'll get started at 5:15 pm. We'll wrap up each session by 6:45 pm. We'll be meeting in the Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street in Central Glasgow.
All supplies will be included for you to work on your knitting, and you can keep them at the end as well. You'll also get a free hot drink at every session.
Skills covered will include:
-Basic Knit and Purl stitches
-Knitting in both Garter and Stockinette stitch
-How to cast on and cast off your project, as well as what to do with those pesky ends
-How to increase and decrease for some basic shaping
-If you're up for it, we can look at some basic textures and the addition of multiple colours to really amp up your work
Get ready for winter (and the holiday gift-giving period), have a nice, social evening out, gain a deeper appreciation for the materials around you, and learn a new skill that will serve you for years to come.
All welcome! Note that the venue is fully accessible, although you will need fair use of your hands for this work. Please get in touch at [email protected] if you have any questions about whether this will work for you.
About Me
Hi! My name is Sydney Switzer, and I am an artist and community educator based in Glasgow's Southside. I began crafting with string at age 3 and haven't stopped since. I'm passionate about sheep-to-garment textile production, and my pride and joy is a jumper I knit from wool I spun from sheep I tended whilst living on a sheep farm in Argyll. I'm so excited to knit and chat with you all this November!
