In honor of Valentine's Day, fall in love with the national treasures of Illinois! While images of the National Park Service (NPS) often focus on spectacular sites in the American West, the NPS has a meaningful presence in and near Illinois. National Monuments and Trails, National Heritage Areas, National Historic Landmarks, and sites on the National Register of Historic Places contribute to our understanding of the region's cultural history, yet many are relatively unknown and underappreciated. Dr. Norm Moline, an Illinois Humanities Road Scholar, and who is again serving on the Illinois National Register Advisory Council, will showcase some of these sites in northern Illinois and Kane County."The National Park Service in Illinois: Places to Experience Our
