LEARN | DIRECTOR 101Session 3: Blocking, Lighting & Sound Design in Storytelling, and Working with Actors
Hosted by Dave Montague
Instructors: Pam Orear, Dave Montague, and Blake Stubbs
Saturday, November 14th at 1:00p
Location: Theatre Center, Costa Theatre
Have you wanted to direct a show but don’t know where to start? Maybe you have directed but are looking to strengthen your ability in a few specific areas. Director 101 is a FREE three part workshop that will cover submissions, the role of a director, the administrative side of directing, technical & light design, blocking, and character development.
Our final session dives into some of the logistics in making your vision become a reality! Pam Orear will spend some time diving into the art of blocking. She will walk through the challenges of blocking in the round, managing big group scenes, and how to create magic in the Corn Stock spaces. Then Dave Montague will show us how to tell a story through an interactive presentation of lighting and sound design. Then the session will wrap up with Blake Stubbs talking through how to work with actors. He will dive into sharing your vision, giving notes, and running the rehearsal room.
This is the session that will take good directors and give them the tools to become great! Don’t miss this chance to learn from experienced directors.
