About this Event
Leadburn Community Woodland, 13 miles south of Edinburgh, was purchased from the Forestry Commission by a small group of individuals known as the Friends of Leadburn Community Woodland. The group has been replacing the previous plantation of conifers with native trees and restoring the large area of raised bog.
On this visit we may be removing saplings from the bog area to help raise water levels in this important habitat or we may be thinning excessive birch regeneration in the surrounding woodland.
We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 07510959496 to book a space and for joining instructions.
Please bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.
NEW VOLUNTEERS Please only book one task initially. If you do not attend without letting us know, we may cancel any additional task bookings. If you are under 18 you will need to be accompanied by a guardian. Please contact us to discuss arrangements for volunteering with us , or whether other organisations might be more appropriate.
