The Laurel School Parents Association presents the 2026 Laurel’s Center for Research for Girls (LCRG) Fall Community Forum, Building the Skills Behind Success: Executive Functioning in Girls. This free event, open to the public, will feature a panel of experts exploring the executive functioning skills that help children and adolescents succeed in school and beyond, including planning and organization, task initiation, emotional regulation, and time management. These skills develop gradually throughout childhood and adolescence and continue maturing into early adulthood, making this conversation relevant for families of students across the K–Grade 12 years. Panelists will discuss what executive functioning can look like at different developmental stages, why these skills matter for learning and wellbeing, and how adults can help girls strengthen them over time.
Panelists include Dr. Tori Cordiano, Laurel’s Consulting Psychologist and Co-Director of LCRG; Dr. Grace Willer, Laurel’s Director of Learning Strategies and Co-Director of LCRG; Dr. Emily Lauster, a clinical psychologist, Laurel alumna, and Schafer Center clinician; and R. Elizabeth Capps, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.
