Here goes: Northern Italian Wines in the 1980's. It all changed.Colli di Cantone Frascati from Rome. A local wine becomes international with the help of modern technology and global distribution. It doesn't just live in the old neighborhood any more.
Gradis Ciutta Ribola Gialla- The revolt of the grapes from international (take that cabernet!) to returning back to the old time religion. White pizza with these two.
Perrone Barbera d' Asti- From a backyard peasant wine to oak barrel aging as an "instant identity kit" (Matt Kramer). They have now found their right place.
Giulliano Rosati Ripassa- The classic Veneto sun dried grapes masterpiece that is both dry and luscious at the same time. Red pizza with mushrooms for these two.
