About this Event
Join artist Jazmyn Jamil for an intimate artist talk exploring the creative journey behind Lavender and Ginger—a historical, magical realism, queer graphic novel.
Jamil will share the research and storytelling process behind reimagining queerness in Jamaica’s past, and how these narratives informed both the graphic novel and the accompanying collage series, Quilted Archives.
The evening will include storytelling, visual work, and space for conversation, inviting attendees to reflect on how histories that are both real and imagined can shape the stories we tell today.
This event also serves as a fundraiser to support travel to Kingston, Jamaica, where Jamil will present these works at this year’s Caribbean Studies Association Conference.
Sliding scale donations help support travel costs while keeping the event accessible to the community.
