About this Event
Join me in Austin to celebrate the launch of What Comes After, the second book in the Faultlines series! Whether you’ve been reading along or you’re just discovering the books, you’re welcome. I’m planning a relaxed afternoon with food and conversation, and admission will be free. Children are welcome, and you’re free to come and go anytime between 1 and 5 PM.
Borinken Roots has offered to host the celebration in their outdoor space. We’re planning Puerto Rican fare from Borinken Roots and appetizers from Lucille’s Catering, a local Black-owned business. We’ll also have coffee from Everyday Alchemy Coffee Co and cupcakes provided by Suga’s Cakery! We’re planning peach cobbler from Lucille’s, too. I wanted both Puerto Rican and Black pride to be part of this celebration, and I’m excited to have these businesses involved. The final menu is still coming together. Borinken Roots will also have additional food available for purchase.
Books, merchandise, and autographs
Faultlines merchandise and physical copies of What Comes After and The Weight of Silence will be available for purchase in both English and Spanish. I’ll be happy to autograph books on request. Admission is free; purchases are optional.
Please RSVP for each person attending, including companions and children, to help us plan the gathering. You can reserve up to 10 free tickets in one order.
Getting there and accessibility
Borinken Roots is at 11800 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, TX 78753. MetroAccess serves the venue, and CapMetro Route 1 (North Lamar/South Congress) has stops nearby, including Lamar/Caddo and Lamar/Northbend. Use the CapMetro Trip Planner to plan your bus trip, or book your MetroAccess ride as usual.
Parking is available; we’re confirming how much will be available for the party. This is an outdoor gathering, and Borinken Roots has heaters and tents available. We’ll share more about the entrance, restrooms, seating, drop-off arrangements, and weather plans as we confirm them.
Music and sensory needs
There will be music! I’m autistic myself, so sensory overload is very much on my radar. I’ll keep the volume as tolerable as possible and work hard to accommodate sensory needs. You’re welcome to bring earplugs or whatever helps you enjoy the gathering comfortably.
If you have access questions, food requirements, or sensory concerns, email [email protected]. You can also approach me during the event. I’ll share more about sensory accommodations as I confirm them. <3
