Launch party of Activating Intersections by British-Jamaican interdisciplinary powerhouse Quilla Constance (QC).New Art Exchange invites you to the launch party of Activating Intersections- the most ambitious, boundary-shattering solo exhibition to date by British-Jamaican interdisciplinary powerhouse Quilla Constance (QC).
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This Must-See Exhibition in 2026:
If you're interested in institutional disruption or looking for an exhilarating cultural experience, "Activating Intersections" offers a powerful blend of post-colonial agency, anarcho-punk feminism, playful carnivalesque elements, and absurdist humour. Following her critically acclaimed intervention in the BAFTA-winning Sky Max series *Rob & Romesh Vs (Art)*, QC employs a fiercely subversive approach across various mediums to challenge the structures that marginalise Global Ethnic Majority, female, LGBTQ+, and working-class identities. At the heart of the exhibition is a newly commissioned series of monumental oil paintings. These stunning, large-scale works reclaim and challenge the colonial interiors of British stately homes. This visual intervention forces the conventions of high art into urgent, contemporary confrontation.
From Tate Modern to New Art Exchange:
This exhibition builds directly on Constance's landmark open-studio workshops at Tate Modern in 2019, which engaged over 1,000 diverse participants in challenging systemic cultural stereotypes. Now, that important social initiative culminates in QC's newly commissioned costume installation: The Grenadiers: New Regiment". This installation features historical garments worn at Tate Modern alongside newly commissioned wearable sculptures, effectively bridging historical critique with active civic rebellion. Join us for an energetic kickoff to the new season at New Art Exchange! Bring your enthusiasm, grab a drink, and we can't wait to see you there!
