Launch of Nottingham Anti-Muslim Hate Crime Project
Himmah is launching a new local service offering a safe place to report anti-Muslim hate and to get practical help. Working with the British Muslim Trust, and local groups including Nottingham Muslim Women’s Network, Nottingham Council of Mosques, the African Institute for Social Development, and Wahda CIC, the service will combine a third-party reporting centre, where people can report incidents without going directly to the police, with a advocacy service that stands alongside victims for as long as they need.
This project is launched as anti-Muslim hate continues to rise across the UK. The service gives people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire a trusted, local route to report what has happened to them and to be believed, supported and guided through whatever comes next — whether that is a criminal investigation, help with housing, schools or employers, emotional support, or simply having their experience recorded.
